35% Visible Light Transmission (VLT) Window Tint is the darkest tint that is legal across all States and Territories. Both 35% and 50% VLT are legally suitable for vehicle windows with no existing tint.
There are some allowances for darker tints in NT*, WA* and QLD* make sure you check your local authority requirements before purchasing. A low VLT% will greatly reduce visibility and that's why it is illegal. If you have illegal tint you can also void or complicate your vehicle insurance in case of an accident.
